If you are going away on a trip or are having someone cater to your outlook emails them you can create a rule that forwards any messages that come in your Outlook account over to another email address. This helps you view any messages that come over in the desktop application even if you do not have your system. The instruction given below can help you set up this rule.

- Open the Outlook application and click once on the Tools men on the top of the window.
- Move the cursor down to the Message Rules option and slide it to the right towards Mail. Left click Mail.
- Now choose the conditions under which the rules become applicable. If you wish to apply this rule only for messages from certain people, or emails that have certain specific subject, in case the email comes with an attachment or if the email is secure, then place tick marks in the check boxes next to these conditions. If you wish to apply the rule to all your outlook messages then select the option labeled For all messages.
- Now choose the actions that you wish to perform using the rule which here would be Forward it to People.
- If you were to look in the description field of the rule you would find that where the program added Forward it to People and People which will have a blue underscore. Click on the underlined words to specify the email address where you wish to forward the messages. In the following address box you can either type in an address into the blank field or you can select Address Book from where you can select as address directly from the Address book. To select an address from the Address book directly just double click on the person’s address.
- Now you can give your new rule a name in the field marked New Mail Rule, or just let the default name stay(New Mail Rule # 1). Click on the OK option at the bottom of the box, so that your messages get forwarded promptly to the email addresses that have been specified as soon as you click Apply Now. This Apply Now button will be present in the following dialog boxes.
- Turn the rule on or off as your needs vary or you could delete it.
