The Windows Address Book is a component of Microsoft Outlook Express which helps the users to keep a single contacts list, which can be shared by multiple programs. It has got many features such as the storing of contacts inside the folders, storing information in different tabs for personal and business use, contacts printing as memo, business cards, etc. The wab.dll file can be termed as a vital part of the Outlook 2000 application in Windows 95 and 98. - Click the Start button on the left bottom of your desktop. Now, select Search and click on All files and Folders.
- Now, type Wab32.dll and then press Enter on your keyboard.
- Now, you should go ahead and rename the file. So, right click on the file and select the Rename option. Sometimes, you may not be able to find the file. It means that the file may have got erased at some point.
- If you have found the file, then replace the original name by typing Wab32.old and press Enter. Now, you can close the search window. Your Outlook address book information would remain intact after you rename the file. This happens because the wab.dll itself does not store any information. Instead, it allows the system to access the information in another location.
- As mentioned in the third step, there may be instances where you might not be able to locate the file. In such cases, first click Start followed by Settings. Now, click Control Panel.
- You will see an option Add/Remove programs. Select the option and then, select the Windows Setup tab at the top of the menu. Now, click Components and then uncheck the box next to Microsoft Outlook Express. Now, click Apply and wait for the program to uninstall.
- Once it is installed, recheck the box to Microsoft Outlook Express. Now, click Apply to reinstall the program.
- Restart your computer now.
