- Close your Outlook application if it is currently running.
- Go to the Search option in your computer and enter scanpst.exe in the type field and hit Enter.
- The result will contain the Outlook Inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe). Double-click the file to open it.
- Locate the corrupted PST files now. Use the Browse button on the Inbox Repair tool to locate the files.
- After choosing the corrupted PST files, select the Start button on Scanpst.exe to begin scanning your PST files for errors. Once the scan is completed, you will be notified about the errors. Choose the appropriate action to proceed. Specify whether you want to replace the faulty PST file with good ones or repair them instead. Once Scanpst.exe completes the Outlook repairing, restart your Outlook application. You should be able to use the search utility without any faults now.
