Alongside Windows Microsoft has spent equal share of time on developing ICF or better known as Internet Connection Firewall. This program lend a hand in securing the Windows enabled machines by managing the ports which foresee the data’s received and sent from your machine. But during some scenarios some ports will be left by ICF, this is done by default due to the program that runs this application. As you know there are some programs that can only work on certain ports. If those parts aren’t configured in ICF, then your program may not work well. Microsoft support centers have developed a set of instructions which will help you to manually open these ports and configure it as per the requirement. These instructions will make your life easier by opening new ports for those much needed programs.
Instructions
• Hunt for a globe like tab located on the bottom left corner of your desktop with the name “Start”, clicking on it will open up a window which will be having a tab named as “My network Places”.
• From the “My Network Places” tab hit on the “View Network Connections” which can be found under the tab named as “Network Tests” and wait a second or two until it crops up.
• The upcoming window will carry the relevant information about the internet connections on to your computer, choose your current “Internet connection” and go for its “Properties” by using the right button on your mouse.
• Open up the “Advanced tab” inside which there will be a program tagged like “Settings”. Click on it to open that window.
• Now hit on the “Add” button to name the unopened port by entering the name in the “Description” box. Later type in “127.0.0.1” in to the entry box named like “Name or IP address of the computer hosting this service on your network”. Now type in the port number as per your desire to configure your “External” and “Internal” ports. Make sure that you have checked “TCP” or “UDP” port
• Now hit on the “OK” tab to finish of the entire process and reboot your PC by clicking on the “Restart” option listed among the shut down option of your Windows enabled machine
