Customizing Google Chrome Browser Settings

Google introduced the Chrome browser in to the computer market in the year 2008. The browser comes with several functions and enhanced features which provide you with wonderful browsing experience in almost all environments. This free browser application can be easily downloaded and installed on your computer. I think Chrome is the fast, secure, and simple Web Browser compared to the other third party Web browsers, including Mozilla Firefox. By default, Google chrome settings remain hidden, and you need to access the settings first to customize the default configuration settings according to your needs. This includes customizing the Google Chrome home page, passwords, etc.

This post details some customizing tips that will be very useful to you while making modifications to the settings within the Google Chrome web browser.

How to customize the Chrome Settings?

  • First of all, you need to launch the Google Chrome browser on the Windows machine. For this, double-click the Chrome icon on your desktop screen.
  • Now click on the wrench icon located at the top-right corner and choose the Settings option from the pull down menu.
  • Now enter chrome://settings/personal without any mistakes in the address bar and then press Enter.
  • Now click on the Basics option located on the left pane of the window to customize your Google Homepage. Here you can customize the taskbar and bookmark settings. Choose the particular option that you wish to change and make needful alterations in the configuration settings.
  • For customizing the buttons and also for synchronizing Google Chrome with your email account, you need to access the Personal Stuff option located at the left side.
  • For changing Google themes, click on the Get Themes option and pick out one for your account, from the pre-installed themes list.
  • For customizing the backend of Google Chrome browser, you have to select the option that reads Under the Bonnet. Here, you can customize the security settings concerning the browsing history and cookies.
  • For changing the location for the downloaded files, access the Change button located next to the default path.
  • After making the needful changes in the configuration settings, don’t forget to click the Save button. This will let you apply these changes effectively.
